Cake Doodling Inspired by Martha

Where do you find your cake inspiration?  I hope you look everywhere.  Sometimes I find it in some unlikely places.  This particular design had been rolling around in my brain since I saw these dishes on Martha Stewart's website.

Aren't they lovely?  And all made with dots.

I decided to simplify the design a little bit with some lines.  I figured that if I made all dots, my hand would permanently cramp and I'd never make another cake as long as I lived.

In order to keep my flowers uniform in size and shape, I used a flower cutter to emboss the buttercream where ever the flowers were to go.

Then I could just trace the lines with the frosting and embellish a little.

Hope you find the inspiration you are looking for.
