Cake Doodling Inspired by Martha

Where do you find your cake inspiration?  I hope you look everywhere.  Sometimes I find it in some unlikely places.  This particular design had been rolling around in my brain since I saw these dishes on Martha Stewart's website.

Christmas Cupcake Tower

Merry Christmas, everyone!  I hope you are all enjoying this wonderful season.  I have a cake to share with you today that is perfect for your upcoming Christmas get together. It won't take you all day to decorate and won't tie you down with cutting at the party.

Enter the cupcake tower.
This design has the small feature cake decorated with Christmas balls.  The cupcakes are simply frosted with a swirl of frosting and circle sprinkles that echo the shape of the Christmas balls.
Shall we get decorating?

Pumpkin Cupcakes

If you are looking for a fall cupcake design that says cute without taking up an entire afternoon to complete....look no further.  I made these cupcakes for a fall party in my son's classroom.  I just love little pumpkins!

This design only takes two colors of frosting and some colored sugar as a bonus.

Mole Day Cupcakes

Happy Mole Day everyone!
In honor of this nerdy holiday(and I say this with the utmost of love and affection, some of my best friends are chemistry nerds) I gathered in my kitchen with some dedicated chemistry students to create a cupcake periodic table.  In case, like me,  you haven't looked at a periodic table recently, that's 118 cupcakes!  We made quite a mess, but it was lots of fun.
To add to the fun, the students will be selling them for a penny per proton.  I guess that means that the hydrogen and helium will go first.  Unless you want to live on the wild side and buy an arsenic cupcake.

Hope you find a fun way to celebrate Mole Day!
