Here Comes 2011!

What a year 2010 has proven to be!  It almost makes me dizzy when I think about it.  Was your year a whirlwind too?  So many things have changed.  When this year began I didn't have the first clue how to write a blog.  Now I have many new friends all because of this blog.  Who knew?  I have two things to ask you.

First, I would like to invite all of you, my blog friends, to share your favorite dessert creation that you made in 2010.  Send a picture to my email:  frostine@thatreallyfrostsme.com   I'll compile your photos into a "year in cake" post.  I'm counting on all of you.  What was your year in cake like?  My favorite cake I made all year was this one.  (It doesn't have to be cake.  Any dessert is welcome.)

Second, what are your New Year's cake resolutions?  What things are you determined to try in the coming year?  I've got a list of things I want to post about in the coming year; run sugar, buttercream transfer, stenciling, .......  just to name a few.  Leave a comment below to share your New Year's cake resolution.  I can't wait to hear them.

Ready or not, here comes 2011.  Happy New Year!

Chocolate Truffles for Christmas

One of my favorite things to do during the Christmas season is to get together with friends and make candy.  You get to laugh.  You get to chat.  You get to eat chocolate.  What could be better than that?

I'm going to show you how to make my favorite Christmas candy, Chocolate Truffles.  You'll certainly impress your friends and family with these babies.  That is if you can bring yourself to share.

Royal Snowflakes

For my second Christmas party goody, I wanted a snowflake that I could mass produce and add to a cupcake.  This is what I came up with.  It is a super simple snowflake design.  You might even call it a flower.

Embossed Snowflake Cookies

I have to know if this happens to you.  I start out the Christmas season with my calendar completely empty of commitments and I worry that it might get boring.  Then, within the course of two days, I completely stack my calendar to the limit, my limit anyway.  That is why I missed posting late last week.  I had dessert to make for a Christmas party and ran out of time for posting.  Good news is that I managed to take pictures during the preparation and now I can share that with you.

How about some Christmas cookies?

Gingerbread Cupcakes

I have to admit something to you.  I'm a sucker for cute sprinkles.  You know, the ones that look like little trees, or snowflakes, or gingerbread men.
Aren't these the cutest little gingerbread men you have ever seen?  These little guys are the reason for this post.  They told me they need a place to belong.  They were tired of being cooped up in that plastic container.

Pink and Black Minis

I recently received a cupcake book from a sweet friend of mine.  She lives in Australia.  Hi, M!  (You should check out her blog, Many White Bowls.  She does beautiful work!)  This book got me thinking hard about cupcakes.  And then I had to make some.  I chose to make minis.  It's just what I felt like doing.  This design would work equally well on standard cupcakes if you increase the size of everything accordingly.  I just think minis are super cute.  Wanna know how I made them?
