My Sister's First Decorated Cake

Y'all are in for a treat!

A few months ago my sister wanted to make her daughter a cute birthday cake.  Now my sister is a fabulous baker.  She makes delicious things all the time, but she had never decorated a cake...until now!

I would have loved to run right over to her house and give her a crash course in cake decorating, but we live too far away for that.  We had to make due with email and phone calls.  She was very nervous about making this cake.  She was afraid that it wouldn't turn out and that she would be embarrassed at the party.

This is what she made!!

Texas to Massachusetts Pt. 2

When I left you on my last post, we were parked on the interstate just outside of Indianapolis.  Luckily we began moving again before my husband blew a gasket.

Texas to Massachusetts Pt. 1

Well y'all, as you can tell from my last few posts, I have been in the process of moving with my little family from west Texas to Massachusetts.  As we travelled across the country I took some pictures to share with you some of the sights along the way.  I know it's not cake, but I thought it might be fun.

This is a good example of the views of west Texas.  I was once told that this is the only place that you can watch your dog run away for a week.

My Little Boy's Birthday

Hello everyone!  I know I have been absent for a few days.  I have been moving from Texas to Massachusetts.  I'll bring you more about that later. This post is about my son's birthday cake.  After having my stuff in my new house for all of four days, I had to make a birthday cake.  It wasn't the best time to be making a cake, but I couldn't disappoint my son.

He has been enjoying watching the old Tom and Jerry cartoon series lately.  I decided to use that idea for his cake.  He just loves the physical humor and rolls with laughter when Jerry blows Tom up.

Farewell to My Kitchen

I wanted to show you where I've made my cakes (and dinner, etc.) for the last 8 1/2 years.

It's where I learned most of my decorating skills. It's where I've made all the birthday cakes for my kids. My husband and I painted every inch of these cabinets, installed the under counter lighting, replaced the dishwasher and oven, and hung the wall paper. Would you believe that when we first moved in it had dingy wood cabinets and pepto pink counter tops? You could say that I've grown quite attached to it.

Now it's time to say good bye. We are moving. We are going all the way from west Texas to Massachusetts.

I will miss you, kitchen. It's been a good 8 1/2 years together. I won't forget how you helped me feed my boys.

Anyone have a tissue?
